Within its remit, the Foreign Affairs Committee deals with the issues of the State's foreign policy.
Within its competence, the Committee examines draft acts granting consent for ratification of international agreements, being the only body to receive the notifications on ratification of international treaties without consent granted by the act. The Committee examines periodical information of the Government specifying the directions and objectives of Polish foreign policy and the promotion of the interests of the Republic of Poland. The Committee interviews and issues opinions on the candidates for the posts of Ambassador of the Republic of Poland.
The Foreign Affairs Committee, independently or with other Committees, examines the matters related to the membership of the Republic of Poland in the European Union, the cases of Poles and persons of Polish origin living abroad, as well as the issues related to the principle of equal treatment of persons irrespective of ethnic or racial origin and nationality.
