Dear Colleagues,

1 December 2009 marks the entry into force of the Treaty of Lisbon. It provides for active involvement and cooperation of all European parliaments. How to take advantage of the opportunities that Lisbon is opening up for us is the subject of the extraordinary meetings of Secretaries General in Brussels on 7 December and Speakers of EU Parliaments in Stockholm on 12 December.

To be able to say we have done everything we can to meet this challenge, we should arrange for an exchange of views among parliamentary experts as well. We believe that also those dealing with parliamentary cooperation on a day-to-day basis and ensuring parliamentary scrutiny of EU documents should also be given an opportunity to meet and discuss this issue. Therefore we invite your experts who are directly involved in the European integration matters for a conference titled "The Treaty of Lisbon - Treaty of European Parliaments", which will be held in Warsaw on 22-23 February 2010.
